Reliable Volcano Brass Nozzles V6 for High-Flow 1.75mm 3D Printing
Volcano Brass Nozzles V6 are designed for compatible E3D Volcano-style hotends using 1.75mm filament. These brass nozzles are built for high-flow filament applications where a larger melt zone, faster material output, and improved print speed are important. They are a practical replacement or upgrade option for everyday 3D printing, draft parts, prototypes, larger prints, and general printer maintenance.
Your current dnb3D product page lists these nozzles in four size options: 0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 0.8mm. This gives printer owners flexibility when choosing between fine detail, standard printing, and larger nozzle sizes for faster material flow. The page also notes that these nozzles are rated to a maximum temperature of 300°C and are designed to improve print quality and speed.
Large Melt Zone for High-Speed Printing
Volcano-style nozzles are longer than standard V6-style nozzles and are designed to support increased melt capacity. This makes them useful when printing larger parts, stronger functional pieces, thicker layers, or faster draft profiles. When paired with a compatible Volcano-style hotend, the larger melt zone can help maintain more consistent extrusion during higher-flow printing.
Compatible with E3D Volcano-Style Hotends
These Volcano Brass Nozzles are intended for compatible E3D Volcano-style hotends using 1.75mm filament. Before ordering or installing, confirm your hotend type, thread compatibility, nozzle length, heater block style, and filament diameter. A nozzle that does not match the hotend can cause leaks, poor heat transfer, clogging, or heater block damage.
Choose the Right Nozzle Size
The 0.2mm option is useful for finer detail and smaller features, but it usually requires slower printing. The 0.4mm size is a common everyday choice. The 0.6mm and 0.8mm sizes can help increase flow and reduce print time for larger functional parts, brackets, jigs, fixtures, prototypes, and draft prints. When changing nozzle size, update slicer settings such as nozzle diameter, line width, layer height, flow rate, speed, and temperature.
Best for Everyday Non-Abrasive Filaments
Brass nozzles offer good thermal conductivity and are a popular choice for everyday 3D printing. They are best suited for non-abrasive materials such as PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, and similar standard filaments. For abrasive materials such as carbon fiber-filled, glow-in-the-dark, metal-filled, glass-filled, or heavily filled composites, use a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle instead.
Rated Up to 300°C
These Volcano Brass Nozzles are listed as rated to a maximum temperature of 300°C. Always stay within the safe operating limits of your hotend, thermistor, heater cartridge, nozzle material, and filament. Printing near the upper end of any component’s temperature range should be done carefully and only with a properly configured printer.
Pair with Related 3D Printer Parts

Technical Reference
Volcano-style nozzles are designed for higher-flow printing applications where larger melt zones, larger nozzle sizes, and increased material output are useful. For compatibility, dimensions, hot tightening, and nozzle care information, see the E3D Volcano nozzle technical reference.

Installation & Care
Confirm Volcano Hotend Compatibility
Before installing Volcano Brass Nozzles V6, confirm that your printer uses a compatible E3D Volcano-style hotend for 1.75mm filament. Check hotend type, thread compatibility, nozzle length, heater block style, and filament diameter before installation.
Install Carefully to Avoid Cross-Threading
Start the nozzle by hand whenever possible. If the nozzle does not thread in smoothly, stop and check alignment. Cross-threading can damage the brass nozzle, heater block, or hotend assembly.
Hot-Tighten Using Proper Printer Procedure
Many hotends require the nozzle to be tightened at printing temperature so the nozzle seals correctly against the heat break. Follow your printer or hotend manufacturer’s procedure. Use controlled torque and avoid over-tightening, as brass is softer than steel and can be damaged by excessive force.
Use with Non-Abrasive Filaments
Brass Volcano nozzles are best suited for PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, and similar non-abrasive filaments. Avoid using them with abrasive materials such as carbon fiber-filled, glow-in-the-dark, metal-filled, glass-filled, or heavily filled composites. Abrasive filaments can wear the brass nozzle opening and reduce print quality.
Adjust Slicer Settings When Changing Nozzle Size
When switching between 0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 0.8mm nozzle sizes, update your slicer settings. Check nozzle diameter, line width, layer height, flow rate, speed, temperature, and retraction settings. A larger Volcano nozzle may also require higher flow tuning depending on material and printer capability.
Stay Within Temperature Limits
These nozzles are listed with a maximum temperature rating of 300°C. Do not exceed the safe limits of your nozzle, hotend, thermistor, heater cartridge, heat break, PTFE path if present, or filament. High-temperature printing should only be done on a properly configured printer.
Keep the Nozzle Clean
Keep the nozzle tip free from burnt filament, debris, and residue. Use appropriate cleaning methods for your filament and printer. Do not scrape aggressively with hard tools, as brass can be scratched or damaged.
Replace Worn or Clogged Nozzles
If prints show inconsistent extrusion, poor surface finish, under-extrusion, blobs, stringing, or dimensional issues after tuning, inspect the nozzle for wear or clogging. Replacing a worn nozzle is often faster and more reliable than trying to recover a badly damaged one.
