Product Details

Reliable BTT Pi4B Adapter for CB1 and CM4 Klipper Setups

The BTT Pi4B Adapter is a single board computer carrier from Big Tree Tech that allows the BIGTREETECH CB1 or a compatible CM4 module to function in a Raspberry Pi 4B-style layout. When combined with the BIGTREETECH CB1, it can be used as a practical Raspberry Pi-style alternative for Klipper, Mainsail, Linux, Debian, and 3D printer electronics builds.

Your current dnb3D product page notes that this adapter is used on dnb3D 3D printer DIY kits with the BTT Pi4B/CB1 in conjunction with Manta M8P and/or Octopus V1.1 control boards. It gives builders access to familiar SBC-style ports while using the CB1 or CM4 as the compute module.

CB1 and CM4 Single Board Computer Carrier

The BTT Pi4B Adapter connects directly to the CB1 or compatible CM4 module. The CB1 provides the processing hardware, while the Pi4B Adapter provides a Raspberry Pi 4B-style board format with useful ports and headers. This makes it helpful for builders who want a standalone Klipper computer instead of installing the CB1 directly onto a Manta control board.

Raspberry Pi 4B-Style Functionality

This adapter opens up functions and solutions similar to the Raspberry Pi 4B. Your page lists 2 Micro HDMI ports, 1 Gigabit Ethernet port, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 40-pin GPIO, 1 microSD card slot, 1 Type-C USB port, 5V fan input, and external camera input pins. These features make it useful for printer control, network access, display output, USB devices, GPIO accessories, and camera-based printer monitoring.

Built for Klipper, Mainsail, Linux, and Debian

The BTT Pi4B Adapter supports Klipper, Linux, Debian, and other operating systems depending on the compute module, firmware image, and configuration. For 3D printer use, it is commonly paired with the BIGTREETECH CB1 to run Klipper and Mainsail while connecting to a separate printer control board such as a Manta M8P or Octopus V1.1.

Pairs with BIGTREETECH CB1

The BIGTREETECH CB1 is sold separately and acts as the compute module in this setup. The CB1 product page lists a quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 processor running at 1.5GHz with 1GB DDR3 RAM. When paired with the Pi4B Adapter, it can be used as a compact SBC-style controller for Klipper printer builds.

Heatsink Sold Separately

The CB1 heatsink is also sold separately. For enclosed printer electronics bays, long print sessions, or warm control compartments, pairing the CB1 and Pi4B Adapter with the CB1 Heat Sink PI4B can help improve thermal management and system stability.

Useful with Manta M8P and Octopus V1.1 Control Boards

Your dnb3D page notes that the BTT Pi4B/CB1 setup is used in conjunction with Manta M8P and/or Octopus V1.1 control boards. This makes it useful for Rat Rig-style builds, Voron-style machines, CoreXY printers, custom Klipper setups, and DIY electronics enclosures where a separate SBC-style compute board is preferred.

Build a Complete BTT Klipper Electronics Setup

This product can be used as part of a BIGTREETECH Klipper electronics setup. Pair it with the BIGTREETECH CB1, CB1 Heat Sink PI4B, and Manta M8P By BTT depending on your printer build. These products are sold separately unless specifically listed as part of a bundle or kit.

Installation & Care

Installation, Handling & Care

Confirm Compute Module Compatibility

Before installing the BTT Pi4B Adapter, confirm that you are using a compatible BIGTREETECH CB1 or CM4 module. The adapter provides the Raspberry Pi 4B-style layout, but the compute module provides the processing hardware.

Power Off Before Handling

Disconnect power before installing, removing, or handling the adapter board, CB1 module, CM4 module, heatsink, camera cables, USB devices, or related electronics. Avoid inserting or removing modules while powered.

Check Module Orientation

Install the CB1 or CM4 module in the correct orientation according to the official documentation. Incorrect seating or misalignment can damage the module, adapter board, or connector.

Use the Correct Firmware Image

Use the correct firmware image and setup files for the CB1, CM4, and Pi4B Adapter setup. Firmware intended for a different board or module may not boot correctly. Review the official BIGTREETECH GitHub release documentation before flashing.

Plan for Cooling

The CB1 and heatsink are sold separately. In enclosed printers, warm electronics bays, or long-running Klipper setups, use appropriate cooling and airflow. The CB1 Heat Sink PI4B can help improve thermal management when used with compatible CB1 and Pi4B Adapter setups.

Protect Connectors and Ports

Handle Micro HDMI, USB, Ethernet, GPIO, camera pins, microSD, and USB-C ports carefully. Avoid forcing connectors, bending pins, or putting stress on cables during installation.

Check Camera and GPIO Wiring Carefully

If using camera pins or the 40-pin GPIO header, confirm pinout and orientation before connecting accessories. Incorrect wiring can damage the adapter, compute module, camera, or connected electronics.

Test Before Final Assembly

Before closing the electronics enclosure, test power, boot behaviour, network access, USB devices, microSD storage, Klipper/Mainsail access, and board communication. Confirm stable operation before long prints.

Keep the Board Clean and Protected

Keep the adapter board away from loose screws, metal chips, conductive dust, filament debris, moisture, and static discharge. Use proper standoffs, mounting hardware, cable routing, and enclosure airflow.
