Product Details

TR8x4 Stainless Steel Acme Lead Screw – 8mm Diameter

The TR8x4 lead screw is an 8mm diameter stainless steel Acme threaded rod designed for compatible linear motion assemblies, 3D printer builds, CNC-style motion systems, Z-axis setups, and other mechanical projects that use TR8x4 lead screw hardware.

Stainless Steel Lead Screw for Linear Motion Projects

This lead screw features a stainless steel construction, 8mm diameter, 2mm pitch, and 4mm lead. The 2-start thread design means the nut travels 4mm for each full rotation of the screw, making it suitable for compatible motion systems where controlled linear travel is required.

TR8x4 Lead Screw Size Options

This product is available in three separate length options: 380mm, 480mm, and 580mm. Each size is sold separately, allowing you to choose the length that best matches your printer, machine, or custom build requirements.

  • 380mm length – approximately 14.96 inches
  • 480mm length – approximately 18.90 inches
  • 580mm length – approximately 22.83 inches

Compatible Lead Screw Hardware Available

Compatible anti-backlash nuts and standard lead screw nuts are also available from dnb3D. These parts are commonly used with TR8x4 lead screws to build or repair Z-axis assemblies, lift mechanisms, positioning systems, and other screw-driven motion projects.

General-Purpose Applications

This stainless steel TR8x4 Acme lead screw is useful for a range of compatible linear motion applications. While commonly used in 3D printers, it should also be positioned as a general-purpose motion component for makers, builders, repair work, and custom mechanical assemblies.

Common Uses

  • 3D printer Z-axis assemblies
  • Compatible CNC-style linear motion projects
  • Custom lift or positioning mechanisms
  • Motion platforms and guide assemblies
  • Replacement lead screw applications
  • DIY mechanical and equipment builds

Installation & Care

Installation

  • Confirm the required length, diameter, pitch, lead, and nut compatibility before installation.
  • Use only compatible TR8x4 lead screw nuts, anti-backlash nuts, couplers, bearings, and supports.
  • Check alignment before tightening the assembly. Misalignment can cause binding, vibration, uneven motion, or premature wear.
  • Do not force the nut onto the lead screw if resistance or cross-threading is present.
  • Ensure the lead screw is properly supported for the length and load of your application.
  • Verify firmware movement settings when used in a 3D printer or CNC-style motion system.

Handling

  • Handle the lead screw carefully to avoid bending, thread damage, or impact marks.
  • Keep the threads clean and free from metal chips, dust, filament debris, and abrasive particles.
  • Store flat or properly supported to help prevent bending.
  • Avoid dropping the lead screw or placing heavy objects on top of it.

  • Inspect periodically for wear, thread damage, binding, corrosion, or wobble.
  • Clean the threads as needed using a suitable soft brush or lint-free cloth.
  • Apply suitable lubrication if required for your nut material, motion speed, and application environment.
  • Replace the lead screw if it becomes bent, damaged, excessively worn, or no longer moves smoothly.
