Precision GT2 6mm Idler Timing Pulley in Plain Aluminum Finish
The GT2 6mm Idler Timing Pulley is a compact belt motion component used in 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, robotics, automation projects, belt tensioning systems, and custom mechanical assemblies. Designed for 6mm wide GT2 timing belts, this pulley helps guide the belt smoothly around idler points, tensioners, carriage assemblies, and motion paths.
This plain aluminum version features a 20 tooth GT2 profile, 5mm bore, and clean aluminum finish, making it a practical choice for common 3D printer and DIY machine builds. It can be used with compatible 5mm shafts, bolts, shoulder screws, axle hardware, or custom brackets depending on your design. Whether you are repairing a printer, building a CoreXY motion system, upgrading a belt path, or stocking spare parts, the GT2 6mm Idler Timing Pulley is a useful motion component to keep on hand.
Designed for 6mm GT2 Timing Belts
GT2 timing belts are widely used in 3D printers and light-duty motion systems because they provide accurate belt-driven movement in a compact format. This pulley is intended for 6mm wide GT2 belts, helping support belt travel, alignment, and tensioning in compatible assemblies. Always confirm belt width, bore size, tooth profile, and pulley style before installation.
20 Tooth Pulley for Printer and CNC Motion Builds
The 20 tooth format is common in 3D printer motion systems, small CNC projects, robotics mechanisms, and belt-driven DIY machines. It can be used in idler assemblies, belt routing points, tensioner brackets, carriage systems, gantries, and custom mechanical layouts. A properly installed pulley helps reduce belt rubbing, uneven wear, tracking issues, and noisy motion.
5mm Bore with Plain Aluminum Finish
The 5mm bore makes this pulley suitable for many small machine assemblies using compatible 5mm shafts, bolts, shoulder screws, or axle-style hardware. The plain aluminum finish provides a clean, simple appearance that works well with aluminum extrusion frames, 3D printer builds, CNC brackets, robotics projects, and custom fabricated assemblies.
Useful for 3D Printers, CNC, Robotics, and Laser Builds
The GT2 6mm Idler Timing Pulley can be used in 3D printers, CoreXY builds, Cartesian printer systems, CNC machines, laser engravers, robotics platforms, camera sliders, plotters, belt tensioners, and prototype motion assemblies. It is especially helpful when building or repairing compact belt-driven systems that rely on clean, repeatable motion.

Installation & Care
Installation, Handling & Care
Confirm Belt and Bore Compatibility
Before installing the GT2 6mm Idler Timing Pulley, confirm that your belt is a compatible 6mm wide GT2 timing belt and that your shaft, bolt, or axle hardware matches the 5mm bore. Mismatched parts can cause wobble, binding, poor belt tracking, or premature wear.
Align the Pulley with the Belt Path
Proper alignment is important for smooth motion. The pulley should sit square to the belt path so the belt tracks evenly across the pulley. Misalignment can cause belt edge wear, noise, skipped motion, uneven tension, or rubbing against nearby parts.
Use Proper Spacing and Clearance
When mounting the pulley, make sure spacers, washers, bolts, brackets, and printed parts do not rub against the rotating pulley or belt. The pulley should spin freely after installation with no side binding or interference.
Set Belt Tension Carefully
Use reasonable belt tension for your machine design. A belt that is too loose can skip or produce inaccurate motion, while a belt that is too tight can increase bearing load, create noise, wear the belt, or strain motor shafts and brackets.
Keep the Pulley and Belt Clean
Keep the pulley teeth and belt path free from dust, chips, filament debris, grease buildup, and abrasive particles. Contamination can reduce belt life and create rough or noisy motion. Inspect the pulley during regular printer or machine maintenance.
Do Not Force Onto Oversized Hardware
The 5mm bore should fit compatible 5mm shafts or axle hardware without excessive force. Forcing the pulley onto oversized, damaged, or dirty hardware can damage the pulley, bearing, or bore. Inspect shafts and bolts for burrs before assembly.
Protect the Aluminum Finish
To keep the plain aluminum finish clean, avoid abrasive tools, harsh cleaners, and unnecessary scratching during installation. Wipe with a soft cloth before final assembly if the pulley will be visible on the finished machine.
