Product Details

BLTouch Auto Leveling Sensor — Genuine Antclabs V3.1

The BLTouch auto leveling sensor is a Genuine Antclabs V3.1 probe designed for compatible 3D printer bed leveling and probing systems. It is a semiconductor hall sensor used to detect the print bed surface, helping compatible printers measure bed position for automatic mesh leveling, Z-offset setup, and more consistent first-layer calibration.

BLTouch Auto Leveling Sensor for 3D Printer Bed Probing

The BLTouch auto leveling sensor is commonly used on compatible 3D printers to probe multiple points on the build surface. When configured correctly in firmware, the sensor helps the printer compensate for small variations in bed height and improve first-layer setup.

Genuine Antclabs V3.1 Sensor

The current dnb3D product page lists this as a Genuine Antclabs V3.1 sensor. Using the correct genuine probe is important for wiring references, firmware setup, replacement compatibility, and long-term troubleshooting.

Works with Multiple Bed Materials

Unlike some inductive or capacitive sensors that depend heavily on the bed material, the BLTouch probe physically contacts the bed surface. The current product page notes that it can work on several bed materials, including glass and aluminum, when installed and configured correctly.

Firmware and Wiring Compatibility Required

Before installation, confirm that your control board, firmware, wiring harness, voltage requirements, mounting bracket, probe offset, and printer configuration support a BLTouch V3.1 sensor. Wiring and schematic diagrams for many popular control boards are available through the official Antclabs website.

Common Uses

  • 3D printer automatic bed leveling
  • Mesh bed leveling and probing systems
  • Z-offset setup and first-layer calibration
  • Printer upgrades using compatible control boards and firmware
  • Replacement probe for compatible BLTouch installations
  • Custom 3D printer builds where BLTouch V3.1 support is verified

Installation & Care

Installation

  • Confirm that your printer control board, firmware, voltage, wiring, and mounting bracket support a BLTouch V3.1 sensor before installation.
  • Follow the official Antclabs wiring diagrams or your control board documentation for the correct pinout and wiring order.
  • Mount the sensor securely so the probe pin can deploy and retract without contacting the nozzle, fan duct, frame, or printed parts.
  • Configure the correct probe offset, Z-offset, firmware settings, and probing area before use.
  • Test probe deployment, retraction, and trigger behaviour before running a full leveling routine.
  • Do not connect or disconnect the sensor while the printer electronics are powered unless your controller documentation specifically allows it.

Handling

  • Handle the sensor carefully to avoid bending or damaging the probe pin, housing, connector, or wiring.
  • Keep the sensor away from metal chips, dust, moisture, oil, and conductive debris.
  • Do not force the probe pin by hand or use it as a mechanical stop.
  • Inspect the probe before installation and do not use it if the pin, housing, or wiring appears damaged.

  • Keep the probe pin clean and free from filament debris, dust, and adhesive residue.
  • Periodically check mounting screws, wiring strain relief, probe offset, and repeatability.
  • Recheck Z-offset after changing nozzles, hotends, build surfaces, probe mounts, or firmware settings.
  • Replace the sensor if it fails to deploy, retract, trigger consistently, or pass firmware probe tests after wiring and configuration have been verified.
