Precision 695ZZ Ball Bearing for Compact Rotary Motion

The 695ZZ Ball Bearing is a compact shielded bearing used for smooth rotary motion in 3D printers, pulleys, rollers, idlers, robotics, small machines, fixtures, and custom DIY mechanical assemblies. With a 5mm bore, 13mm outer diameter, and 4mm width, this bearing is a practical choice for projects that need a small bearing around a 5mm shaft, screw, axle, or mounting point.

The ZZ designation means the bearing includes metal shields on both sides. These shields help reduce contamination from dust, filament particles, shop debris, and general handling while still allowing low-friction rotation. This makes the 695ZZ Ball Bearing useful in 3D printer hardware, small motion systems, guide rollers, hobby machines, robotics mechanisms, and workshop projects where a compact shielded bearing is preferred.

Common 5mm Bore Bearing for Machine and Printer Builds

The 695ZZ size is often used where a 5mm shaft, axle, or M5-style mounting arrangement is part of the design. It can be used with compatible bolts, shafts, standoffs, rollers, pulleys, printed parts, machined brackets, and custom bearing holders. Always confirm the shaft size, bearing pocket, and required clearance before installation.

ZZ Metal Shields for Light Debris Protection

Metal-shielded bearings are useful where the bearing needs basic protection from dust and light debris while maintaining smooth rotation. ZZ shields are not the same as rubber seals and should not be treated as waterproof. However, they are a good fit for many indoor 3D printer, robotics, pulley, idler, and light machine applications.

Useful for Pulleys, Rollers, Idlers, and DIY Assemblies

The 695ZZ Ball Bearing can be used in compact pulleys, guide rollers, small wheels, belt idlers, spool holders, robotics arms, sliding fixtures, model projects, and custom mechanical assemblies. It is also useful for makers and repair work where a small shielded bearing is needed for smooth rotation.

Compact Size for Printed and Fabricated Parts

Because the 695ZZ bearing is small and easy to design around, it can be used in 3D printed parts, laser-cut plates, CNC brackets, and custom hardware. A properly sized bearing pocket can hold the bearing securely while allowing smooth rotation. For press-fit applications, test your fit before final assembly to avoid cracking printed parts or deforming softer materials.

Technical Reference

Deep groove ball bearings are commonly used for compact rotary motion because they support smooth rotation with relatively low friction. For general engineering context on bearing selection and terminology, see this deep groove ball bearing reference.

Installation & Care

Installation, Handling & Care

Confirm Shaft and Bearing Pocket Size

Before installing the 695ZZ Ball Bearing, confirm that your shaft, axle, bolt, or bearing pocket matches the bearing dimensions. This bearing has a 5mm bore, 13mm outer diameter, and 4mm width. A mismatched shaft or pocket can cause binding, looseness, rough rotation, or bearing damage.

Press Evenly During Installation

If the bearing is being pressed into a wheel, printed part, pulley, or bracket, apply pressure evenly around the outer race. Avoid pressing through the shield or applying uneven force across the bearing. Do not hammer the bearing directly.

Do Not Force Onto Oversized Shafts

The bearing should fit compatible 5mm shafts or axle hardware without excessive force. Forcing the bearing onto an oversized or damaged shaft can damage the inner race, shields, or internal balls. Inspect shafts for burrs, rust, dents, or debris before installation.

Keep the Bearing Clean

The ZZ metal shields help protect the bearing from dust and light debris, but the bearing should still be kept clean. Avoid exposing it to abrasive dust, metal chips, excessive moisture, glue, paint, or cutting debris. Wipe surrounding parts before final assembly.

Avoid Side Loading and Misalignment

Deep groove ball bearings work best when properly aligned. Misaligned shafts, twisted brackets, uneven bearing pockets, or side-loaded assemblies can create rough rotation and premature wear. Check that the bearing rotates freely after installation.

Use Suitable Hardware and Spacers

When using the bearing in a wheel, pulley, or idler assembly, make sure spacers, washers, and bolts do not rub against the shield or outer race unless the design specifically allows it. The rotating and fixed parts should have proper clearance.
