Precision 12mm M5 Threaded Steel Ball for Decorative and Mechanical Hardware
The 12mm M5 Threaded Steel Ball is a versatile hardware component used for decorative feet, lamp bases, jewelry boxes, display stands, small furniture projects, printer hardware, locating points, jigs, fixtures, and custom mechanical assemblies. With a smooth 12mm steel ball and an M5 threaded mount, this part works well anywhere a rounded contact point, finished metal foot, or compact threaded ball support is needed.
This threaded steel ball is useful for both functional and decorative projects. It can be used as a small foot under a lamp base, jewelry box, display stand, electronics enclosure, handmade wooden box, laser-cut project, or decorative panel. It can also be used in mechanical builds where a rounded point of contact is useful for alignment, support, spacing, or repeatable positioning.
Great for Lamp Feet, Jewelry Boxes, and Display Bases
The polished ball shape gives projects a clean, finished look while also lifting the base slightly off the surface. This makes the 12mm M5 Threaded Steel Ball a practical choice for decorative hardware, handmade products, woodcraft, laser-cut boxes, small stands, signage bases, and custom display pieces. When paired with an M5 threaded insert or nut, it can create a removable and adjustable foot for many small projects.
Useful for RatRig-Style Printer Hardware and 3-Point Bed Anchors
This part can also be used in RatRig V-Core 3.1 style printer builds and similar 3-point build plate anchor systems where a 12mm ball with an M5 thread is required. In these setups, the ball can act as a rounded contact point for bed support, location, or kinematic-style mounting. Always confirm your printer version, bed plate, and anchor hardware before ordering replacement parts.
M5 Threaded Mount for Easy Installation
The M5 thread allows the ball to install into compatible tapped holes, threaded inserts, T-nuts, coupling nuts, brackets, plates, and custom mounting hardware. For 3D printed parts or wooden projects, an M5 threaded insert or embedded nut can provide a stronger and cleaner installation than threading directly into the material.
Functional Rounded Contact Point
A threaded steel ball provides a smooth rounded contact surface. This can be useful for adjustable feet, alignment points, fixture contact points, removable plates, positioning jigs, mechanical supports, and custom shop-built tools. Compared with a flat screw head, the ball shape can create a cleaner point of contact and a more finished appearance.

Installation & Care
Installation, Handling & Care
Install Into Compatible M5 Threads
The 12mm M5 Threaded Steel Ball should be installed into a clean M5 threaded insert, nut, tapped hole, or compatible mounting point. Start the thread by hand whenever possible to avoid cross-threading.
Use Inserts for Wood and 3D Printed Parts
For wood projects such as lamp bases, jewelry boxes, display stands, and decor pieces, use a compatible M5 threaded insert or embedded nut. For 3D printed parts, use a heat-set insert or captive nut for better strength and repeatable assembly.
Check Height and Clearance
Before final installation, confirm the installed height, clearance, and contact point. If using multiple balls as feet, make sure all mounting points are even so the finished project sits level.
Do Not Over-Tighten
Use light, controlled tightening. Over-tightening can damage the thread, strip inserts, deform softer materials, crack printed parts, or make future removal difficult.
Protect the Ball Surface
Keep the ball surface clean and free from abrasive dust, chips, glue, finish residue, or metal debris. If used as a visible decorative foot, wipe with a soft cloth during final assembly.
Use Protective Pads When Needed
If the steel ball will contact delicate furniture, glass, painted surfaces, or finished wood, consider adding a small felt pad, rubber bumper, or protective surface underneath the final product.
